Caring For Your Skin from Within

We must all follow a skin are regimen in order to take care of our skin. But aside from applying creams and lotions, we must also take care of our skin from within.

What is inside reflects on the outside. So if you are healthy inside, your skin will show it. So follow these easy steps for a healthy and glowing skin. Although some of these might not be too easy for some, just like me. :)

1. Drink lots and lots of water. Yes we've already heard this line thousand times but the question is, are we following it? I drink up to 8 glasses of water everyday. If you work in an office, your lucky if your office have a drinking fountain or water station, like me. But for those who do not have I suggest you bring water with you. But buying a bottled water from 7-11 or office canteen can hurt your budget to I suggest bring water from home. Buy a spill proof water jar and fill it with water and take it with you in your office. :)

2. Greens. Some of us make faces when we say eat greens. But really, this is a must. Vegetables are high in fiber and fiber cleanses our digestive system from toxins. So if you're colons are clean, your skin is also clear. :) If you suffer from constipation you might notice some dryness on your skin and some break outs. So munch on those greens and be healthy.

3. Sleep. Okay, I'm guilty on this one. I'm a movie and TV series addict so I sometimes deprive myself of a good night sleep. But don't be like me! Try to get 6 to 8 hours of sleep. I noticed that whenever I have break outs it's either my monthly period is coming or I lack sleep. Sleep gives your cells a time to self-repair, so if you lack lots of sleep your body tends to react for not being able to repair itself, hence gives you the warning and one of these warnings is pimples. (I have made a resolve to try to sleep by 10pm, I think that's fair enough :) ).

 4. Smile. Or should I say, have a positive outlook in life. I have a friend who used to be so gloomy. She was so negative that you would try not to talk to her about anything because you'll only hear her complain, her hardships in life, her financial woes, etc. As time went by we taught her to give up this kind of attitude. She needed to focus on the good, and told her to always smile. We would scold her whenever she frowned. :) Now you can see a different glow on her face unlike the gloomy face before. She's the best example of a "before and after" photo. haha!

5. Vitamins and minerals. Eating right can give you the right nutrition for your skin. But if you like to take the extra step on taking care of yourself, taking vitamins and food supplements can be a great move. But be sure to consult your doctor before taking anything.

6. Exercise. Okay, so I'm guilty again. To complement my lack of exercise I try to walk around. I walk from the train station going to my office. You can also do the same, after all they say walking is a good exercise. but try not to walk like you don't care about the world. Keep a certain pace, walk faster than usual. And if your office is on the 3rd or 4th floor you might want to hit the stairs instead of the elevator. I know some people who take the elevator even if their office is only on the 2nd floor, yikes!

Make an extra effort in taking care of yourself. After all, this is not all for vanity. We owe it to our Creator to take care of the body He so generously gave to us. :)
